Weekend 5K Recap! Healthy Friendships!

I participated in a 5K (3.1 miles) this past Saturday in El Segundo, California. The El Segundo Run for Education. They were also having a 10K (6.2 miles). I’m in the middle of training for a 10K and part of Jeff Galloway’s Run-Walk-Run 10K training schedule is doing a 5K. I loved it! I must be honest though, it was a bit tough because there were A LOT of hills. Moving forward, I’m going to add more hill training to my workouts so I’m more prepared for race day hills in the future.
  • Side note. A couple of great sites to find sporting events (running, biking, triathlons, etc) in your area  1) www.Active.com and 2) www.RunningInTheUSA.com

I love events like this for so many reasons:  the wonderful people, making new friends, the positive energy, the healthy environment and all the fun goodies like t-shirts, finisher medals and a health expo. It was a beautiful day, clear blue skies and lots of Spring flowers in bloom. I took some photos with my iPhone to share…

After the run!

Finisher’s medal.  All 1,423 of us received one. I love the color…Fit Friendship Orange!

T-shirt, sponsored by Big 5 Sporting Goods

Whole Foods was a sponsor. There was a tab attached to our bib numbers for a complimentary reusable shopping bag! Picked mine up today. Love!
